This lab’s purpose is to ensure that partner SEs have the right skills and capabilities to prepare an AppDynamics Environment and install the AppDynamics solution to use in a real customer Proof of Value (PoV).
This hands-on lab covers the foundational knowledge you’ll need to deliver an AppDynamics Proof of Value, which is an essential knowledge you’ll need before starting any customer engagement. PoVs are a crucial step in our sales process which enables you to deliver value and allows us to support you.
If you’ve had prior experience doing PoVs, this will help you extend the knowledge around the various components within AppDynamics and allows you to have a running completely monitored environment for future reference and practice.
This lab is designed to be comfortably completed within a 4 weeks time period. However, it is up to you to decide how long you would like to take to complete it. The 4 week timeframe is only a recommendation. Here is a sample schedule that you may choose to follow.
AD-SuperCars is an automotive dealership company. They provide digital dealership services that allow sellers to meet buyers and broker sales of used cars across the globe.
The application is a public-facing home-grown legacy website for the automobile exchange that handles posting used cars for sale by the sellers to be viewed and contacted by potential buyers. It is a monolithic web application built on Apache Tomcat Server and MySQL Database.
Due to high demand on the application and being considered the one and only channel for AD-SuperCars business, performance issues have increased, taking days to determine their root cause, leading to more end users (both buyers and sellers) complaining that the site is slow and the experience is not very good, impacting both revenue and retention.
The CTO has tasked the IT organization with implementing a monitoring solution that monitors the application health and performance specifically to identify the root cause of such performance issues in User Transactions and reduce their MTTR. Also to visualise how the IT performance impacts the Business, Customer Experience and Revenue.
Your mission if you choose to accept it, is to not only install the AppDynamics Platform and Agents, but to Demonstrate the value of how all AppDynamics agents combined can provide end to end visibility and correlation, highlight performance findings, and build an impressive Executive Dashboard.
After Aligning with your AppDynamics Channel SE, you agreed that you’ll kickoff the PoV to be concluded in 3 weeks with the below activities:
If you already have an NFR License for an existing SaaS or On-Prem Controller, you may use that Controller for this exercise instead of deploying a new on-prem Controller.
1 . Install AppDynamics Controller, Events Service, and EUM Server On-Premise (optional, you may use an existing Controller with an NFR license)
2 . Install Java Agent + Show Value of our APM Agent
3 . Install Server Visibility Agent + Show the additional Value of Infrastructure Correlation
4 . Install Database Agent + Show the additional Value of Understanding the Database Metrics and Query Execution Plans
5 . Install BRUM Agent + Show the additional Value of End User Monitoring and Correlation
